The Surroundings

Situated in the Marche region - a land full of history and natural beauty – our country house is the ideal starting point for excursions to places of historical or cultural interest or day trips in the nature.

While in San Lorenzo in Campo, you can admire the Benedictine monastery – a jewel of Romanesque-gothic style – and the “Mario Tiberini” theatre which dates back to the 19th century. Near-by you can visit the medieval hamlets of San Vito sul Cesano and Montalfoglio. We suggest you visit Castelleone di Suasa, just 4 mi (6 km) away, where you will find the archeological museum of Suasa - hosted in the palace of the once-mighty Della Rovere family - and an excavated Roman site just outside of town. From Agriturismo Angeli you can also reach Mondavio and its medieval fortress 6 mi (10 km) and the breathtaking Frasassi Caves (Grotte di Frasassi) with their enormous stalactites and stalagmites - the widest in Europe, just 12 mi (20 km). Only 18 mi (30 km) from the country house lies Urbino – world heritage site – a city of art and birthplace of the Renaissance painter Raffaello Sanzio – known in English as Raphael. If you drive towards the mountains you will get to very old and fascinating places: the town of Pergola with its gold-plated Roman bronze statues, Fonte Avellana monastery - mentioned by Dante Alighieri in his Divine Comedy - and the famous Frontone Castle in Frontone. In case you are interested in farther journeys, we strongly recommend a number of day trips to several cities of art and sites of significant historical and environmental relevance such as Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, Gradara, San Leo, Basilica della Santa Casa di Loreto and Monte Conero with its two famous beach resorts of Sirolo and Numana.
